The Treasury Department Inspector General for Tax Administration sent a letter to Congressman Darrell Issa and Congressman Jim Jordan on July 12, 2012 informing them they would be auditing the IRS in response to their concerns that certain groups might be receiving extra scrutiny. The letter came in response to a June 28th letter of that year from Congressman Issa.
The letter states that after meeting with the staff of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, which Issa chairs, the IG Office of Audit began work on the issue. The IG offered in the letter to provide a status update to the staff of the committee throughout the investigation as well as provide copies of interim and final reports.
“We would be happy to provide a status update to the Subcommittee staff and provide a copy of our interim and final reports on the matter when they are issued,” the letter reads.
The Huffington Post also reported Saturday that an aide to Congressman Issa said he asked the IG for an investigation after hearing allegations of selective targeting of conservative groups.
Issa said earlier in the week he “knew” what the IRS would report about the IRS targeting of conservative groups but said it wouldn’t be appropriate to comment until the investigation by the IG was complete. The interview, which took place with Bloomberg Businessweek on Monday were also noted in the Huffington Post report.
“I knew what was approximately in it when we made the allegations about a year ago. This is one of those things where it's been, in a sense, an open secret, but you don't accuse the IRS until you've had a nonpartisan, deep look,” Issa said. “That's what the IG has done. That's why the IGs in fact exist within government, is to find this kind of waste and fraud and abuse of power.”
Treasury Secretary Jack Lew also said Friday that he learned in March the IG was looking into accusations of IRS targeting of conservatives but did not know of the details until last Friday.
An aide to Congressman Issa did not immediately return a request for comment on what other notification Issa received during the process or if he received a status update.

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart have broken up, according to a new report.
People confirmed the split today, though reps for the two could not be reached.
The news comes amid myriad reports that they’ve been having “difficulties.”

Guess that was true, to say the least. “Priorities” were said to be the issue.
Whatever that means. Still, all hope may not be lost for the duo. Insiders say they are still “in love” and may eventually get back together again.
Prior to Rob’s 27th birthday this week, during which he allegedly ditched out on plans with Kristen, the pair appeared to be still on and going strong.
They were seen at NYC’s MET Gala, and then flew back to L.A. May 8. They recently celebrated K-Stew’s 23rd birthday and held hands at Coachella.
Following last summer’s ordeal – her cheating with Rupert Sanders and issuing a public apology – Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart worked things out.
With the exception of Stewart’s admission of her fling, the two never publicly addressed their romance, and things appeared to be totally back to normal.
So much for that. Stick a fork in Robsten, for now.
Robsten: Can they work it out?

The remastered version of DuckTales did not appear overnight. Capcom has been working with Disney on and off for more than the past two years to get the project off the ground.
Christian Svensson, corporate officer/senior vice-president at Capcom, likes to speak up from time to time on Capcom's message boards. Last time we heard from him, he revealed that all of the original DuckTales voice actors were returning to act in the game.
Recently, Svensson appeared on the message boards again, talking about how long Capcom and Disney has been working together on the project:
It took more than two years (on and off) to do the deal even before any development started. The first conversations I had with folks at Disney about this were had at Dice in 2010 (Feb 2010).
Initial proposals for greenlight started preparation in mid-late 2011 (when it looked like we would be able to reach a deal with Disney). Active development started a bit later after greenlight was achieved.
You can check out the game's original announcement and trailer here.
