It has been confirmed that His Royal Highness Prince Harry was indeed a target in a Taliban attack on Camp Bastion, the British Military Base in Afghanistan, yesterday.

A Taliban spokesperson told the Associated Press: “We attacked that base because Prince Harry was also on it and so they can know our anger.”

The Ministry of Defence has confirmed that the violence occurred at the adjacent US Military base, Camp Leatherneck, about a mile from where Harry was. The MoD has also said tha Harry will not be returning home to Britian and has issued a statement that reads: “The deployment of Captain Wales has been long planned and the threat to him and others around him thoroughly assessed.”

Prince Harry, who turned 28 yesterday, is the first member of the Royal family to see active combat duty since his uncle, HRH Prince Andrew, The Duke of York fought in the Falklands war.
